This Privacy Notice (“Notice”) sets out the basis which Media MICE Pte Ltd, PIE Magazine, CAKE Magazine, COOKIE Magazine and CAKE & PIE Expo (“we”, “us”, or “our”) may collect, use, disclose or otherwise process your personal data in accordance with applicable privacy laws. This Notice applies to personal data in our possession or under our control, including personal data in the possession of organizations which we have engaged to collect, use, disclose or process personal data for our purposes.

  1. “Personal data” means data, whether true or not, about a person who can be identified 
    1. from that data; or 
    2. from that data and other information to which we have or are likely to have access.
  2. We generally do not process your personal data unless: 
    1. it is provided to us by you directly or via a third party who has been duly authorized by you to disclose your personal data to us (your “authorized representative”) after 
      1. you or your authorized representative have been notified of the purposes for which the personal data is collected, and 
      2. you or your authorized representative have provided consent to the collection, use, disclosure and transfer of your personal data for those purposes, or 
    2. collection and use of personal data without consent is permitted or required under applicable laws. 
  3. Depending on the nature of your interaction with us, some examples of personal data which we may collect from you are listed below: 
    1. Subscribers: When you subscribe to our mailing list or initiate communication with us in order to obtain information on our products and services, you consent to providing us with your personal data, for  communication with us. 
    2. Contracts, interviews, articles, videos, virtual meetings and webinars: When you interact with us you may, you consent to our collection, use and disclosure of your personal data in order to help us better serve you and keep you updated on our products and services or other relevant information.
    3. Anonymous: We may collect data about your usage of our websites and/or apps through the use of cookies and tools such as Google Analytics. The collected data may include your IP address, location, the date and time of your visit, your computer or mobile device’s operating system and browser, the website that referred you to us, your interaction on our websites such as the pages that you viewed and the links that you clicked on, etc. If you post a comment on our websites, your name and/or email address and any other personal data you share will be displayed to the public.

  4. We may collect, use and disclose your personal data for any or all of the following purposes:
    1. our provision of the services requested 
    2. verifying your identity;
    3. responding to and processing queries, requests and feedback;
    4. managing your relationship with us;
    5. event management and managing your registration, participation in or viewing of any event managed or operated by us;
    6. providing you with marketing or product information;
    7. complying with any applicable laws, regulations, codes of practice, guidelines, or rules, or to assist in law enforcement and investigations conducted by any governmental and/or regulatory authority;
    8. transferring to any third parties including our third party service providers and agents, and relevant governmental and/or regulatory authorities, whether in Singapore or abroad, for any of the above purposes; and
    9. any other business purposes related to or in connection with the above or any legitimate interest we may have.

5. We may disclose your personal data:

  1. in connection with our provision of goods or services; and
  2. to third party service providers, agents and other organizations we have engaged to perform any of the functions listed in clause 3 above.

6. Our right to use and retain your personal data for the purposes listed  above may continue to apply even in situations where your relationship with us (for example, pursuant to a contract) has been terminated or altered in any way, for a reasonable period thereafter (including, where applicable, a period to enable us to enforce our rights under any contract with you).

7. We mainly use personal data to improve our service performance by enhancing user experience on our websites. By tracking and analyzing the usage data we can create and deliver better content. We may also use your personal data for marketing and advertising purposes where permitted. 

8. Please note that some links on our websites may connect to other third party websites such as our advertisers, social media channels (Facebook, Youtube, LinkedIn, Twitter, etc.). Once you click on those links, any information you disclose on those sites will no longer be protected by us since these third party sites may track your personal data by their own cookies and privacy regulations which may differ from this Notice. 

9. We generally rely on the accuracy of personal data provided by you (or your authorized representative). In order to ensure that your personal data is current, complete and accurate, please update us if there are changes to your personal data by contacting our Data Protection Officer, contact details listed below. 

If you wish to make any of the following requests:  

  1. an access request for access to a copy of the personal data which we hold about you or information about the ways in which we use or disclose your personal data;
  2. a correction request to correct or update any of your personal data which we hold about you;
  3. a request for deletion of your personal data, subject to applicable law;
  4. a request for portability of your personal data, subject to applicable law;
  5. a request to withdraw your consent, subject to applicable law;
  6. a request to restrict the processing of your personal data, subject to applicable law; 
  7. a request to object to automated decision-making, subject to applicable law;

10. Please note that, where permitted by applicable law, a reasonable fee may be charged for an access request. If so, we will inform you of the fee before processing your request.

11. We will respond to your request as soon as reasonably possible. Should we not be able to respond to your request within thirty (30) working days after receiving your request, we will inform you in writing within thirty (30) working days of the time by which we will be able to respond to your request. If we are unable to comply with your request, we shall generally inform you of the reasons why we are unable to do so (except where we are not required to do so under applicable laws). Please note that depending on the nature and scope of your request, we may not be in a position to continue providing our products or services to you and we shall, in such circumstances, notify you before completing the processing of your request.

12. If at any time you wish to stop receiving marketing or content communications from us you may unsubscribe at the bottom of the email(s) you receive from us.

13. We may retain your personal data for as long as it is necessary to fulfil the purpose for which it was collected, or as required or permitted by applicable laws. We will cease to retain your personal data, or remove the means by which the data can be associated with you, as soon as it is reasonable to assume that such retention no longer serves the purpose for which the personal data was collected, and is no longer necessary for legal or business purposes.

14. We have implemented administrative, organization and technical security measures in order to protect your personal data from unauthorized access and disclosure. However, you should be aware that no method of transmission over the Internet or method of electronic storage is completely secure. While security cannot be guaranteed, we strive to protect the security of the information we have and are constantly reviewing and enhancing our information security measures to safeguard our databases from unauthorized access and disclosure. 

15. We may  transfer your personal data to countries outside of Singapore. However, where we do so, we will take steps to ensure that your personal data continues to receive a standard of protection that is at least comparable to that provided under the applicable privacy law.

Your continued use of our services and websites constitutes your acknowledgement and acceptance of such changes.
